What the course covers

This 5 day APMG accredited course has been designed to complement existing best practice
within portfolio, programme and project management (e.g. PRINCE2®, MSP®, P3O® &
MoP®). It consolidates guidelines on benefits management into one place, and expands on
practices and techniques aimed at optimising benefits realisation.

The main areas covered include:

  • An overview of Benefits Management – what it is, the case for doing it and some common
    misconceptions that can limit its effectiveness in practice
  • The principles of Benefits Management
  • How the application of the guidance varies at portfolio, project or programme level

Gaining the qualification

Managing Benefits Foundation level exam

  • Tests knowledge and understanding
  • Takes place on afternoon of third day
  • Multiple-choice format and closed book
  • 50 questions
  • 40 minutes duration
  • Pass mark 50%

You need to have achieved the Foundation level certification to go on to the Practitioner level.

Managing Benefits Practitioner level exam

  • Objective testing
  • Takes place on morning of fifth day
  • Open book exam (Managing Benefits guide only)
  • 2.5 hours duration, with 80 questions
  • Pass mark 50%
