Course overview

The MoP framework gives portfolio and programme managers the principles and practices needed to achieve effective portfolio management across their organisation. Management of Portfolios training provides the vital link that pulls together and co-ordinates strategic planning, investment appraisal and project and programme management.

This Foundation and Practitioner certification provides valuable guidance on implementing a consistent and transparent approach for effective decision making about which projects to run and which to stop, to ensure effective resource utilisation, a balanced organisational risk profile and the most efficient route for achieving strategic objectives.

MoP is a globally recognised certification accredited by AXELOS and is closely aligned to the programme and project management methodologies outlined in MSP® and PRINCE2®.

Who is it for?
Foundation level
  • MoP Foundation is suitable for professionals involved in a range of formal and informal portfolio management roles encompassing investment decision making, project and programme delivery, and benefits realisation
  • The certification is also valuable to those involved in the selection and delivery of business change initiatives, including members of Management Boards and Directors of Change, Senior Responsible Owners (SROs), Portfolio, Programme, Project, Business Change and Benefits managers, as well as business case writers and project appraisers

 

Practitioner level
  • The MoP Practitioner Certification is suitable for individuals who want to demonstrate that they have sufficient knowledge and understanding to apply and tailor the MoP guidance and to analyse portfolio data, documentation and roles in relation to a scenario situation
  • To take the MoP Practitioner examination, you must hold a current MoP Foundation certificate

Exam structure
MoP Foundation level exam
  • Multiple-choice format and closed book
  • 40 minutes duration, with 50 questions
  • Pass mark 50%
  • Takes place on the afternoon of the third day
    You need to have achieved the Foundation level certification to go on to the Practitioner level certification

 

MoP Practitioner level exam
  • Multiple-choice format and open book
  • 3 hours duration, with 80 questions
  • Pass mark 50%
  • Takes place on the morning of the fifth day
